Rocky Mountain Deaf School

S. A. Miro provided civil engineering for a new school and activity fields on a 10-acre greenfield site. The grading design required approximately 11,600 cubic feet of excess soil to be removed from the site. Earthen berms were designed to reduce the amount of export required. Enlargement of an existing regional detention pond was required to comply with current design standards for Extended Detention Basins, as well as to incorporate the required volume for the adjacent existing D’Evelyn School. New drainage swales collect and route sheet flow, minimizing storm water piping. A new 8” sanitary sewer and water loop were key features of the utility and fire protection infrastructure.
