S. A. Miro provided structural engineering design services and construction administration for this exciting new project situated minutes away from Union Station, the heart of Denver’s transit hub. The mixed use building consists of a 6-story Post-tensioned, above grade podium parking structure (with two levels of below grade parking) which supports 13 stories of composite steel framed office. Deep concrete drilled piers were used to support gravity loads and concrete shear walls bearing on mat slabs provided lateral support.
The new 650,000 sf building will primarily serve as office space along with retail shops on the base level. Boasting impressive views from every aspect, 16 Chestnut is equipped with several amenities to accommodate its anchor and future tenants including; two private lobbies, a private gym, bike garage, a courtyard, and the ease of access to transit by way of Union Station. The building achieved LEED™ Platinum Certification.
