Denver Central Library

Structural engineering of an eight-story, 410,000 square foot expansion to the existing Central Library in downtown Denver. Complex structural forms, heavy floor loading, and serviceability criteria were involved in the work.

Renovation of the historic existing Library involved pioneering use of external, thin-plate epoxy reinforcing of the existing slabs, to increase load capacity per current criteria. Miro engineers also created an in-place strengthening system and enhanced backup for the existing limestone facade, which avoided the need to remove and replace the stones.
