Anschutz Cancer Pavilion

The Anschutz Cancer Pavilion is a three-story, 102,000 square foot medical treatment facility constructed of reinforced, cast-in-place concrete. The facility houses three linear accelerators requiring Miro structural engineers to design the massive concrete foundations, walls and ceilings that surround the accelerators and the control equipment. Vibration analysis and design was a strictly – defined aspect of the engineering work. The building is designed to be expanded with an additional floor when needed. A key component of the building that integrates it with the adjacent facility is the three story atrium. The atrium encloses approximately 1,350 square feet of the ground floor and accommodates public assembly functions for University Hospital.
