King Faisal Hospital

S. A. Miro, Inc. is currently providing structural engineering for a 420- bed hospital, physician’s plaza, medical office building, biomedical center, central utility plant, and multi-story car parking facility in the capital city of Rwanda. The biomedical center will house the National Reference Laboratory, Quality Lab, and educational and administrative facilities for the Rwanda University of Medicine and Health Sciences. The biomedical center represents roughly half of the $210 million dollar project program.

Miro’s design scope also includes a significant renovation and expansion of the existing hospital facility as well as retrofitting to meet modern seismic standards. At 1.2 million square feet, the hospital will eventually be the top facility in not only Rwanda but all of Africa and reduce the need to travel abroad for medical care. The project is being funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Int'l Monetary Fund (IMF) and is expected to be completed in 2015.
